943 Beyond the Adenoma Carcinoma Sequence

چکیده
Abstract Introduction Looking beyond the adenoma carcinoma sequence researchers have discovered alternate morpho-genetic routes, and tumour biomarkers in colorectal cancer. This has caused a paradigm shift management, resulting improved diagnosis, prevention, delivery of tailored treatment aiming at specific molecular pathways. Aim review summarises Method PubMed, Google Scholar, NLM searches based on aims key words were conducted. Further, academically, clinically relevant made if more information was required. When required, references articles also retrieved. Results The two main theories regarding morphological origins cancer are De-novo origins. underlying genetic models (i) chromosomal instability pathway (CIN), (ii) microsatellite (MSI) (iii) CpG Island methylator phenotype (CIMP) Though unique, pathways communicate with each other. fingerprinting cancers an impact their management consequently through grounding basics essential for those gastrointestinal subspecialties. Conclusions Two morphologically distinct three unique mechanisms been described. There significant interactions between them. Behaviours sporadic inherited cancer, prognosis depend our understanding these availability targeted therapies to assist surgical resection.

Adenoma-carcinoma Sequence in the Bladder After Augmentation Cystoplasty
We present a case of a 64-year-old woman showing multistep progression from adenoma to adenocarcinoma in the bladder 46 years after augmentation ileocystoplasty. She underwent augmentation ileocystoplasty for tuberculous contracted bladder at 18 years. After 44 years, tubulovillous adenomas were found and resected at the ileovesical anastomosis site. After 2 more years, bladder tumors recurred ...
متن کاملSialic acid histochemistry and the adenoma-carcinoma sequence in colorectum.
A change in sialic acid, notably loss of O acetyl substitution, was studied histochemically in a series of 93 colorectal adenomas that included 14 malignant polyps. Changes in sialic acid were uncommon in adenomas showing mild dysplasia but became increasingly common in moderately and severely dysplastic adenomas and were always present in carcinomatous areas. There was no correlation between a...
متن کاملAdenocarcinoma with adenoma in the jejunum suggesting an adenoma-carcinoma sequence in the small bowel: A case report
Other than that in the duodenum, adenocarcinoma in the small bowel is rare. The present study describes a case of adenocarcinoma with adenoma in the jejunum. A 70-year-old male was admitted to hospital due to dehydration induced by abdominal discomfort and difficulty with oral intake. Computed tomography revealed a tumor in the upper side of the jejunum, which was subsequently resected. The tum...
متن کاملFrom traditional serrated adenoma to tubulovillous adenoma and beyond
It is well established that colorectal cancer develops from a series of precursor epithelial polyps, including tubular adenomas, villous/tubulovillous adenomas (VA/TVA), sessile serrated adenomas (SSA) and traditional serrated adenomas (TSA). Of these, TSAs are least common and account for only 5% of all serrated polyps. TSAs are characterised by the presence of a "pinecone-like" architecture, ...
متن کاملAnnali 943
A case of hernia of the posterior lamina of the rectus abdominis muscle sheath in a 30 years old female, six months pregnant, is reported. The symptomatology was almost exclusively characterized by a persistent abdominal pain, located in the right costal margin at the intersection with the right adsternal line and aggravated by changes in position and by increases of intraabdominal pressure. No...
